All students chose 10 pictures from 10 books based on a specific concept from Andreas Züst’s library and painted their covers. Along the way, each one communicated with a native English- speaking person on the topic of books and reading in general. I now combined the 230 pictures and 23 conversations to create my first book layout.

Designing and making a book from A to Z was very interesting. I decided to use a timeline because it allowed me to connect the two different elements, images from the library and conversations. I took into account the year of publication of the books and the birthyear of our conversation partners. As mentioned before, we also produced our books ourselves, which was the highlight of this project for me. For the first time, I was able to decide everything myself, from the paper to the grammage to the binding, the spine and the cover. With the help of our teacher in the bookbinding workshop, I was able to produce my book exactly as I had imagined it from the beginning.

An book with 230 images, 23 concept texts and 23 conversations.
