All students were assigned a font developer with his or her most famous font and began to research about them. With the information gained, everyone designed a newspaper page, showing the font on one half with an example of its use, and introducing the font developer on the other.

I found it interesting to know who is behind this typeface, how it was designed, and what impact it has on our lives. This was mainly because I was analyzing the typeface “Akzidenz Grotesk”, which was chosen as a template for “Helvetica”, one of the most widely used typefaces. For the layout, I wanted to keep the character of a typical newspaper and tried to give as good an overview as possible of Günther Gerhard Lange and his “Akzidenz Grotesk".

A newspaper entry about Günter Gerhard Lange and his typeface, the Akzidenz Grotesk.
